Reserve Falerne
2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Petit Verdot, Central Ranges, Hilltops, New South Wales
6 Pack - $425.00
Description
"Medium to full red colour with the faintest purple tint and some brick-red creeping in. The bouquet is about vanilla, caramel and tobaccoey merlot-like influence among the aromas, with a lick of raspberry lurking. The palate is deliciosuly succulent and elegant, fruit-sweet, raspberry and blackberry-ish, sweet in the centre, with a wave of fine-grained tannins washing through the finish. A lovely drink, soft, a little forward, and ready to enjoy now." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

- Story
Falerne is an ancient term with origins from Napoli in Italy. Historically, there was quaffer wine, brilliant wine, and then there was Falernian wine. Records represent the incredible quality of the vines and grapes, with resulting wine that can stand the test of time, up to one hundred years!
Falernian wine became synonymous with opulence and grandeur; complex and bold. It is for this reason this moniker was chosen. John Cassegrain sought a name that represented the best quality of handpicked grapes from meticulously chosen parcels, though we are not ageing these wines in clay pots as did the Romans – we are confident to state that these wines will stand the test of time.
Our Reserve Falerne represents the pinnacle of the core Bordeaux grape varieties and is a tribute to John Cassegrain’s early years as a winemaker.
- Halliday Wine Companion
"A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot sourced from the Central Ranges and Hilltops. It's a pleasant amalgam with cassis and soft plums spiced with pepper and cinnamon. Medium bodied with sinewy tannins yet a freshness throughout, making this best in its youth." - Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion
