Description

"Deep brick-red colour with a tawny edge, suggesting considerable age. The bouquet is mellow, mature and exceedingly complex—very alluring—with layers of leather, fresh earth, tobacco and cedar. The palate is full-bodied and firm, with a drying tannin grip that somewhat dominates the finish. Licorice, smoked-meats and cigarbox notes, and a long lingering farewell. A smashing red wine that's right in the heart of its peak drinking window." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

  • Winemaking

The Shiraz was picked from various vineyards, and treated as individual parcels. This Shiraz had a delicate but rich tannin, so the wine was matured in both 4500L large format oak and 300L small format oak. The composition in small format oak was in New American oak to give the wine some vanillin character adding to the complexity.

  • Halliday Wine Companion

"Bright red-purple; sourced from New England/Central Ranges; attractive, well-made wine with very good texture and structure putting red and black cherry, spice and dark chocolate (where did that come from?) at the forefront; the mouthfeel and fruit purity are excellent." - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion
