Our Approach

The core philosophy at Cassegrain Wines is the marriage of traditional French winemaking methods with modern Australian technology, an innovative approach that gives Cassegrain Wines a unique point of difference. The result is a diverse portfolio of full flavoured, yet soft and elegantly styled wines.

As a multi-regional producer, this approach allows Cassegrain Wines to focus on the strengths of each region, blending fruit and crafting wines of complexity and real interest, but true to style and variety. This approach allows us to select the best parcels of fruit from the best regions, with the principal aim being to ensure that the characteristic flavours of the fruit are maintained and enhanced during the winemaking process, delivering excellence in each and every bottle. This commitment to quality and diversity is key to producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique characteristics of NSW’s vineyards.

Chief Winemaker Alex Cassegrain, works closely with grape growers, visiting the vineyards regularly to nurture strong relationships and ensure only the highest-quality fruit is selected. This hands-on approach guarantees that every grape contributes to the elegance and excellence of our wines.

While Port Macquarie, our home, is not our key grape-growing region, it provides the perfect base for our winery. A picturesque coastal town, Port Macquarie boasts stunning beaches, scenic coastal walks, and an abundance of activities, making it a beautiful destination for wine lovers and visitors alike. Our location allows us to focus on crafting wines from the best grapes grown across NSW, celebrating the region’s diversity and delivering wines of exceptional quality.

Our Capacity

We are a fully integrated winery, with a purpose-built facility that handles everything including grape crushing, fermentation, through to bottling, storage, and distribution. We are one of the few wineries that are able to produce sparkling wine using the Méthode Traditionelle (Méthode Champenoise in France) process.

Currently we produce over 500,000 bottles per year, with capacity to increase to 3 times current production. This is a combination of Cassegrain Wines branded wines for the domestic and export markets, as well as wines for other private labels.

We have been exporting across the world to countries including Canada, China, Denmark, Fiji, Finland, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, USA, Vanuatu, and Vietnam.

We have supplied wines to airlines for their Business and First Class passengers (such as Qantas and Singapore Airlines) as well as to the Shinkansen in Japan.
