A curious blend of French style and Piedmont grape varieties stemming from the Italian and French roots of the Cassegrain lineage.  Red cherries, red currant and rose petal with vanilla notes. Medium bodied wine with fine tannins and oak playing a supportive role.

John Cassegrain’s mother – nee Countess Francoise de Solere – descended from a lineage going back to the 10th century. This family maintained wine estates in the Piedmont regions of northern Italy before Count Luce de Solere moved to Burgundy in 1803.  French and Piedmont (Italian) roots – concreting the beauty of lineage and history; creating discussion material for family dinners through the generations. What better to have alongside these discussions and long-afternoon conversations than a red wine that speaks to this very journey.

In doing so – the stage was created where we could recall and revitalise tradition in a new way. This is the 2018 Edition Noir de Solere – created as an homage to the journey between Italy and France. A calculated blend of Nebbiolo, Barbera and Sangiovese (renowned Italian varieties) of course crafted in our French traditional style of wine making sees the borderline blur into nuance and poise in the glass.
