2016 Stone Circle Shiraz Voignier
You did what?............. we put a small amount of white grapes (Viognier) in with the red grapes (Shiraz).
Well it’s nothing to get upset about they have been doing it in the Rhone Valley for hundreds of years.
Why? The Viognier addition which is less than 10% helps to soften the somewhat forthright nature of Shiraz. Additionally, it lifts the aromatics on the nose to a new level not ordinarily seen.
It creates a somewhat contrasted wine both powerful in flavour yet soft, supple and obliging. Be brave!
Think – A broadsword in the hands of a capable, beautiful woman!
